Privacy Policy
Effective 26 September 2026
This policy explains how the pantaoo app ("the app", "we") handles data when you use it. The principle is simple: pantaoo requires no account, asks for no personal information, and never sells anyone's data. The app displays publicly available CCTV feeds.
1. Data the app accesses
- Location (GPS) — only with your permission. Used to centre the map on your position and to sort the nearest cameras first. Location is processed on your device; we do not store it on our servers and do not link it to your identity. The app works without location permission.
- No personal data — we do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, or photos. There is no account to create.
- Local preferences — favourites, language, map layer, and the server address are stored only on your device (local app storage), not on our servers.
- Technical data — when the app loads video/images through our server or calls our API, standard technical records (IP address, request, timestamp) may be logged briefly to operate and protect the service. This is not used for advertising and is not sold.
2. CCTV feed sources
pantaoo displays CCTV cameras that are publicly available from official/government portals and road operators. We do not own those cameras, do not record their video, and each camera's availability depends on its operator.
3. Third-party services
To provide its features, the app fetches data from third-party services. When you use the related features, requests are sent to the following providers under their own policies:
- Maps — Esri ArcGIS and OpenStreetMap (map tiles).
- Road routing — OSRM (project-osrm.org).
- Place search — Photon / OpenStreetMap (geocoding).
- CCTV feeds — each camera operator's own servers.
4. Data sharing
We do not sell or rent data. Data is only passed to the infrastructure/service providers needed to run a feature (see section 3), or where required by law.
5. Advertising & tracking
The app shows no advertising and includes no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
6. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
7. Security & retention
We apply reasonable technical measures to protect the service. Local preferences remain on your device until you clear them; server-side technical logs are kept briefly, then discarded.
8. Your rights & choices
- Revoke location permission at any time in your Android settings.
- Clear favourites/preferences by clearing the app's data or uninstalling.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above will change when we do.
